Big screen, little screen review: Marry Me

Marry Me is a romantic comedy, a song-filled valentine that is a little Notting Hill, and a little Runaway Bride, starring Jennifer Lopez and Luke Wilson. Does Marry Me break new ground? No, but it’s not aiming to redefine the genre. It’s virtually as intelligent as it could be. However, this flick has a lot more appeal than the publicity implies. There’s some legitimate compassion, feelings and insight with these two affable characters.

Jennifer Lopez glows as Kat Valdez, one half of the sexiest celebrity power couple in the world about to marry her famous musician fiancée before millions of fans in a ceremony that will be streamed worldwide across multiple platforms This rom-com puts a contemporary twist to the story’s background about marriage when on discovering her fiancee’s unfaithfulness, seconds before the ceremony, she marries a complete stranger, Charlie played by Owen Wilson. Charlie is a genuine guy that brings the large pop celebrity support to actuality and he is exceedingly modest and sweet all the time while at the same time keeping his daughter grounded to illustrate to her what’s vital in life. I liked the songs that gave a concert an effect and the entertaining parts of the flick.

I was satisfyingly amazed! Good quality performances and a good story. It was lovely to see a hilarious motion picture with no bloodshed. I must also admit this Marry Me flick is a very tender, and sometimes infuriating love story. The first song and dance routine was unpleasant and offensive to a religious person, the film would have been better without that scene. Apart from that scene I got pleasure from Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilsons chemistry and acting.

The movie was well penned! And opened in the cinema at the right time – during the Valentine’s Day weekend, Jennifer Lopez’ music told the story as well as the narrative. It was light-hearted and fun!

I advocate that everyone go out with their partner to see Marry Me. As for me, I breathe for romantic comedies and this movie easily made it among my favourites.
